Kent wide collaboration for Government Connect recognised in GC Awards 2009 in the shared services category

Now in its 13th year, the GC Awards – rewarding excellence in public sector IT (previously GC Awards for innovation) are the original and most prestigious awards for using technology to raise the game in public services. They were established to highlight the excellent work done by public servants across the UK, and to disseminate the projects' contributions to best practice. The Transformational Government campaign and the Treasury's demands for efficiency savings have ensured there is still a strong momentum to get more out of IT for public services, and organisations are eager to show that they have risen to the challenge.

In a unique and innovative collaboration, Kent and Medway authorities are fulfilling Government Connect’s requirements through Kent Connects and the Kent Public Service Network (KPSN).  KPSN is providing a single, shared ICT infrastructure and acting as an ‘aggregated gateway’ for authorities. Kent Connects is providing practical support to help authorities achieve GCSx Compliance, both technologically and culturally.

Winners of the awards will be announced at a gala ceremony hosted by Polly Toynbee on May 20 2009 at Somerset House, London.
