Kent Connects’ Portal Recognised for Innovation
Kent Connects Partnership Portal has been named Runner Up in Government Computing’s 2008 Innovation Award for ‘Best Project, Government to Government’.
The Innovation Awards have been running since 1996 and recognise the best, most innovative work in the development and delivery of information age services to citizens, business and the public sector.
Debbie Wisdom, Kent Connects’ Strategic Director was delighted with the result: ‘This is a fantastic endorsement of what the Kent Connects partnership has achieved. The Partnership Portal was originally developed for our own purposes to support joint working and networking. Within less than a year however, it’s been successfully rolled out to seventeen other inter-authority partnerships and has potential for partnerships everywhere, at minimal cost.’
Debbie is also keen to pay testament to the involvement of Kent Improvement Partnership (KIP), who helped fund the Partnership Portal’s development, undertaken by Netsight Internet Solutions. ‘The portal is a result of collaboration between a number of organisations’ she says, ‘with KIP and Netsight helping us to realise a potential we hadn’t envisaged at the outset. Following a third phase of development, we are now able to offer the portal as a tool to senior executives who need a strategic overview of the partnerships in their area.’
